Why should I contribute to the Capital Campaign when I already pay school taxes?

The Middletown High School Sports Club, Inc. is working with the Frederick County Board of Education to supplement, not supplant, programs and capital improvements that tax dollars cannot provide. If the students are to continue to excel academically and athletically, we must provide opportunities to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

Why should I contribute to the Capital Campaign when I no longer have children in school?

Since the founding of the Republic, no individual has paid the full cost for the education of his/her child[ren]. The education of youth was considered such an important task by the founding fathers that it was considered appropriate for the entire community to bear the costs. It still is. A strong school is a strong community. The Middletown High School serves an estimated population of just under 3,000 residents. The Middletown High School Sports Club, Inc. is working to enhance athletic opportunities for everyone.

Is a goal of $3,600,000 realistic to achieve in a one-year time period?

Yes. The goal is attainable if we are able to acquire volunteers to help us. “Friends give to Friends” and “Peers give to Peers”. In addition, a five-year pledge period is available to meet everyone’s philanthropic endeavors.

Is my gift to the “Knights Quest” Capital Campaign tax deductible?

Yes, your gift is tax deductible. The Middletown High School Sports Club, Inc. is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which means that all contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

May I give a gift “In Memory Of” or “In Honor Of” a friend or loved one?

Yes. The “Knights Quest” Capital Campaign presents an excellent opportunity to give a gift “In Memory Of” or “In Honor Of” a loved one. Many parents, grandparents and friends give a gift “In Honor Of” their children or grandchildren. It also is an excellent time to leave a legacy gift by “naming” a building or stadium structure to assure the family name will continue in perpetuity.

What is the relationship between the Middletown High School Sports Club, Inc. and MHS?

The Middletown High School Sports Club, Inc. was established as a non-profit charity on July 19, 1973 to assist the Middletown High School in meeting its strategic and long-range goals. There is no legal connection to the Middletown High School. A volunteer board, made up of Middletown High School Alumni and Community members, governs the Middletown High School Sports Club, Inc. With a strong connection to the Middletown High School and the Frederick County Board of Education, the Middletown High School Sports Club, Inc. will make appropriate decisions that complement the School District’s efforts and meet mutual athletic objectives.

Is the Campaign just about Football?

No, not at all! The construction of the new Sports Complex, on the grounds of the Middletown High School, is much more than football. It will showcase athletic talent from many sports as well as provide the Middletown High School Marching Band with a state of the art facility in which to practice and perform. With all-weather turf, the complex can be used for many athletic, community, recreational and school events. The new Sports Complex will be a jewel for a deserving community and Middletown families.
