The Capital Campaign

Built in the early 1970’s and despite upgrades by Frederick County Public Schools, the Stadium is in poor condition and remains in need of renovation. The entrance to the Stadium is not handicap accessible and there are no designated handicap parking areas provided. Although the track has been resurfaced, it is currently used by spectators to reach both the home and visitor stands. The home grandstand is not code compliant and needs to be expanded to meet the current and future needs of the school. Existing restrooms are inadequate and grossly undersized for the population. In addition, they are not accessible and far removed from the Stadium. Also, the Concession Stand is in need of repair and expansion to better serve the number of patrons in attendance. Lastly, the field surface is overused and is a frustration and a liability.

The $3,600,000 Capital Campaign will raise funds to:

  • Relocate the main entrance to the northeast corner of the Stadium and make the Stadium handicap accessible, complete with proper parking and access.
  • Construct new concrete walkways to connect the entrance gate with the home and visitor stands.
  • Build a new Concession Stand, complete with kitchen, in close proximity to the main entrance to the Stadium.
  • Renovate the home grandstand to code, expand the seating capacity from 870 to 2,058, and provide much needed wheelchair spaces.
  • Provide a new restroom facility, built for multiple accesses on both sides of the Concession Stand Building.
  • Renovate the existing visitor stands to code and expand the seating capacity to 1,440 – bringing the entire Stadium capacity to 3,458.
  • Replace the field-playing surface with Field Turf Tarkett Synthetic Turf.
  • Create an Endowment Fund to help offset the operational costs of the Stadium upon completion.
