About Middletown and MHS

Middletown is an attractive community nestled in the scenic foothills of the Middletown Valley, just outside of Frederick, Maryland.  Middletown enjoys a fine reputation as a wonderful place to work and live.

Middletown High School (MHS) was established in 1888 and opened the doors to the current High School in April of 1974.  MHS is “dedicated to educational excellence, civic responsibility, and a passion for life-long learning.”  All students are encouraged to take the most challenging courses available and an emphasis is placed on elevating the Character Counts! Programa countywide initiative promoting values guided by mutual respect and personal responsibility. Middletown High School provides a myriad of opportunities in the area of athletics, visual and performing arts, academic societies, agricultural, and club organizations.  Total enrollment is 1,279 students. The School’s colors are orange and black, and the athletic teams are known as the “Knights.”

With the intent to enhance the athletic experience of student athletes and community families, the Middletown High School Sports Club, Inc. and Middletown High School prepare to embark on a $3,600,000 Capital Campaign in 2007/2008. Funds raised from the Campaign will be used to renovate the Stadium to include the installation of synthetic turf.  In addition, an Endowment Fund will be established to ensure the perpetuity of the Middletown High School Sports Club, Inc. and their efforts to advance the athletic opportunities to all students.

The Middletown High School Sports Club, Inc. is recognized federally as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, making all donations tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
